Hellish Heat in Italy: Hospitals Are Overcrowded.
Hospitals in Italy are overwhelmed due to excessive heat, especially affecting elderly people suffering from dehydration, reports The Guardian.
According to Today, thousands of people in Italy have been hospitalized due to heat strokes, and queues at emergency hospitals are growing due to the heat and high temperatures.
Medical services have decided to place staff near tourist sites for quick response to emergencies. However, the number of heat stroke cases is rising, and queues in hospitals are becoming longer.
Forecast and Situation with Forest Fires
It is forecasted that the heat in Italy will last at least another 10 days, with temperatures potentially reaching 42°C in the south and islands of the country. Some regions have already limited outdoor work during the hottest hours. In addition to the heat, forest fires have emerged, for example, in Sardinia, where 24 fires have been recorded in recent hours, creating serious challenges for local safety services under high temperatures.
Medical facilities in Italy have found themselves in a state of emergency due to the excessive heat, which has led to an increase in cases of heat strokes among the population, especially among the elderly. The situation is further complicated by the threat of forest fires, which have become more widespread due to the high temperatures in the country. It is expected that the heat will continue for at least another 10 days, and medical and fire services continue to take measures to protect the population from these dangers.
