Today, October 22, marks the 51st birthday of the People's Artist of Ukraine, singer Aurica Rotaru. She is known for her songs such as "By Love", "Happiness - Free Bird" and "I Can't Live Without You".

The People's Artist of Ukraine Aurica Rotaru was born on October 22, 1958, in the village of Marshyntsi, Novoselytsia district, Chernivtsi region. She has three older sisters and two older brothers. There is an 11-year age difference with her sister Sofia Rotaru.

At the age of 4, Aurica Rotaru performed on stage for the first Time and received her first fee. The audience passed around hats and collected one ruble for the young singer.

In 1980, she graduated from the Chernivtsi Music School named after Vorobkevych, specializing in the choral-conducting department.

After her first year, she was invited to the Chernivtsi Philharmonic, where she began singing in the vocal-instrumental ensemble "Cheremosh". Tours became an integral part of the performer's life. Costumes for the ensemble's soloists, including Aurica's sister Lydia, were embroidered by craftswomen from the village of Milieve.

In 1985, Aurica graduated from the Odessa Pedagogical Institute with a higher education degree and moved to Kyiv, where she began her solo career.

She continued her creative activities in Vinnytsia, and later in the Crimean Philharmonic. She also toured extensively with her sister Sofia Rotaru and participated in festivals.

Her repertoire includes songs in Romanian, Ukrainian, and Russian languages. In the 1990s, she toured the Far East, Kazakhstan, and Central Asia and released three albums.

Currently, Aurica Rotaru performs at concerts, spends time with her sisters and brothers, and takes care of her home near Kyiv.

It is noted that her sister, Sofia Rotaru, and other family members have remained in Ukraine since the first days of the war. In an interview, Aurica Rotaru spoke about the whereabouts of her sister Sofia Rotaru and events in her life.

In March 2023, eight Ukrainian men of conscription age, including the son and grandson of singer Sofia Rotaru, were detained at the border with Moldova. After that, nothing was heard about them. Subsequently, one of them posted several pictures on social networks, which suggests he fled abroad. It is believed that 28-year-old Anatoly Yevdokimenko left Ukraine for France.
