British passengers forced off flight due to heat: plane unable to take off.
Report of passenger removal from British Airways flight due to excessive heat
According to The Sun: Passengers were forced to exit the British Airways plane because the heat made it too heavy for takeoff. Twenty people disembarked at London City to compensate for the additional fuel that needed to be added.
The BA Embraer ERJ-190 required more fuel due to the heavy conditions in Italy, where the air was less dense due to the 35-degree heat.
The short runway at Amerigo Vespucci airport in Florence created additional difficulties.
BA apologized to passengers and explained that high temperatures affect air pressure, and they reduced the weight of the plane.
Dr. Johnny Williams, an aviation expert from the University of Reading, noted: 'Hot summer days when weight must be reduced for aircraft in smaller airports will become increasingly common. This might become the norm three to four days a week by the 2060s.'
As a result of the excessive temperature, representatives from British Airways apologized to passengers and explained the reason for the removal of passengers from the flight. Experts remarked that conditions like those encountered in this case may become more prevalent in the future due to climate change.
