Indian summer or cold weather: meteorologists delighted with the forecast for September.
The summer is ending, but the heat in Ukraine is not going anywhere. Even the nights have not brought any coolness, and the daylight still lasts longer than the night. In August, the day became two hours shorter, but it still lasts longer than the night. The autumn equinox will only come on September 22.
This information was reported in a TSN article.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, September will be warmer than usual. The average monthly air temperature is forecasted to be +15-20 degrees, which is 2 degrees above normal. It will be even warmer in the south of the country: +18-20 degrees, and a bit cooler in the Carpathians: +13-14 degrees.
Regarding precipitation, a normal amount is expected, but this may not be enough to compensate for the summer drought. Between 37 and 76 mm of rain will fall, and in some places in the Carpathians, even up to 111 mm. The most precipitation is expected in the western part of Ukraine.
Internet resources provide a more detailed forecast for regions. The first week of September is expected to be especially hot, with temperatures above +30 degrees in many regions.
In the west, the heat will last until September 8-9, after which rains will begin, and the temperature will drop to +23-25 degrees. The second half of the month will be even cooler, with heavy precipitation, especially in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
In the northern regions, the heat will last for a week but will then start to decrease. In mid-month, it will be rainy, with temperatures of +20-22 degrees during the day and +13-15 at night. The end of the month will bring even more cooling, with temperatures of +18-20 degrees during the day.
In the central regions, the beginning of the month will be hot but with gradual cooling. From September 10, rains are expected, particularly heavy in the Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
In the east, the heat will last the longest. The cooling will be gradual with rains in mid-month. Especially rainy will be the Kharkiv region from September 8 to 16.
In the southern regions, the weather will be varied. The Odesa region, thanks to the influence of the sea, will avoid intense heat. In the Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, the temperature may reach up to +33 degrees at the beginning of the month. In Crimea, September will start with rains and thunderstorms, but then classic autumn weather will set in.
Thus, September in Ukraine will be warm and diverse. It is important to be prepared for both summer heat and autumn rains. Despite climate warming, autumn still comes with coolness and precipitation.
We remind you that new rules will be introduced for schoolchildren in Ukraine starting September 1.
