Saudi Sheikh announces sale of Manchester United: club denies

According to The Sun: The MANCHESTER UNITED club denied rumors of negotiations with a new investor.

Saudi Arabia's sports chief Tarki Al-Sheikh announced on Wednesday evening that a deal to sell part of the club is nearing completion.

Al-Sheikh noted that he intends to organize a friendly match for the 'Red Devils' in Riyadh, and wrote on social media:

“The best news I heard today is that Manchester United is currently at the forefront stage of finalizing a deal with a new investor... I hope he will be better than the previous owners.”

This statement came a few hours after a lengthy interview with one of the club's owners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who discussed his long-term strategy for the team.

However, on Thursday morning, club sources stated that such reports came as a surprise to them, and they were not confident in their veracity.

The Glazer family, which is the club's main owner, rejected a significant offer from Sheikh Jassim Al-Thani's consortium from Qatar nearly two years ago. Instead, they accepted Ratcliffe's offer of 1.25 billion pounds for 27.7% of the club's shares, which was finally approved early last year.

Now the club is considering the possibility of holding a friendly match in Saudi Arabia this season, although specific arrangements have yet to be made.

Ruben Amorim's team has many free Sundays as they did not qualify for European cups and were eliminated from the Carabao Cup at an early stage.

Ratcliffe's Vision

In his interview on Wednesday, Ratcliffe outlined his vision for Manchester United.

The part-owner of the 'Red Devils' raised many topics, including the future of coach Ruben Amorim, whom he wants to give a chance to prove himself in the long term.

“He hasn't had the best season. Ruben needs to demonstrate that he is a great coach over the next three years. That’s where I would be,”
Ratcliffe noted.
