Biden Makes First Statement After Trump's Election Victory.
U.S. President Joe Biden delivered his first public statement in the Rose Garden of the White House following Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election.
"Failures are inevitable, but giving up is unforgivable," Biden said, urging his supporters to continue fighting for "the America of their dreams."
The president's speech came after Vice President Harris delivered a short address at Howard University, where she stated: "While I acknowledge the results of this election, I am not giving up on the fight that inspired this campaign."
In his six-minute address, Biden assured that there will be a "peaceful transfer of power" on January 20, 2025, and that he "will respect the Constitution." The president also expressed support for his staff, acknowledging that they are "suffering."
"You can't love your country only when you win. You can't love your neighbor only when you agree," Biden addressed his supporters.
The president also expressed hope to "put an end to questions about the integrity of the American electoral system," noting: "It is honest, fair, transparent, and trustworthy, regardless of victory or defeat."
Biden has already called Trump to congratulate him on his victory and invited the president-elect to the White House.
