According to Mark Zuckerberg, the chosen location no longer meets the company's requirements due to the presence of a rare species of insects.

Meta has not yet commented on the changes in plans. It is noted that the company also faced environmental and regulatory constraints during construction negotiations. However, it is likely that the presence of bees was the decisive factor in Meta's decision change.

The exact construction site and the name of the nuclear power plant operator are not disclosed. It is known that Zuckerberg viewed this project as an opportunity to make Meta the first major tech company to use nuclear energy for artificial intelligence.

Growth in infrastructure costs

In its latest financial report, Meta's leader noted significant growth in infrastructure costs, particularly for artificial intelligence, in 2025. Meta's main competitors - Google, Amazon, and Microsoft - are also actively investing billions in AI infrastructure, including building data processing centers.

Workers are prohibited from discussing their work with other crews and from taking photos or videos. Mark Zuckerberg started the land acquisition process back in 2014.
