Changes in the procedure for conscripting citizens into military service

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine proposes changes in the procedure for conscripting citizens into military service during mobilization. From August 1, 2024, commanders of military units will have the ability to conscript citizens without the involvement of territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCC and SSC).

The proposed changes have the following goals:

• Simplify the mechanism of conscripting citizens into military service during mobilization.
• Allow commanders of military units to independently select personnel.
• Enable conscripts to choose vacant positions according to their civilian professions or skills.
• Reduce the risk of conscripting citizens into undesired military units through TCC and SSC.

This initiative aims to optimize the army staffing process and provide greater flexibility in the choice of service location for conscripts.
