Ukraine Outlines Three Strategies for Supplying Patriot Missiles: Key Details.
Three Channels for Delivering Defense Systems
According to Espreso.tv: Valeriy Borovyk, founder of the company First Contact, has outlined three distinct approaches being taken to supply defensive weapons aimed at strengthening Ukraine's military capabilities. According to him:
- The first approach involves directly procuring defense systems from manufacturers;
- The second approach focuses on obtaining missiles from the stockpiles of partner nations;
- The third approach concerns securing a license to produce components for the Patriot system.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has pointed out that, amid an increase in Russian ballistic attacks, there are significant challenges in getting missiles for the Patriot system. On the night of July 6, Russia struck Kyiv, and for the first time, air defense systems failed to intercept any of the 'Iskander' or 'Zircon' ballistic missiles. Fedorov emphasized that Russia is ramping up the frequency of its ballistic assaults, deploying missiles on a scale never seen before.
“Several tracks are being pursued in this direction,” Borovyk noted, highlighting the complexity of the situation.
He added: “So there is simply no quick fix for protecting our skies.” Mykhailo Fedorov, for his part, assured that “I will hold talks with the defense ministers of partner countries regarding missiles for the Patriot.” According to Borovyk, this initiative is “being developed by Ukraine there,” but globally, fewer missiles for Patriot systems are produced in a month than the enemy launches against Ukraine.
With escalating threats from Russia, the need for a reliable supply of defensive systems is becoming ever more pressing. The three supply channels described by Borovyk could play a decisive role in safeguarding the country amid modern challenges. Given the intensification of the conflict, cooperation with international partners and the expansion of domestic weapons production may prove critical to sustaining Ukraine’s military strength in the near future.
