In Russia, the shortage of soldiers for the war in Ukraine is exacerbating, forcing the authorities to increase recruitment bonuses to avoid mobilization. However, there is no certainty that this will help solve the problem.

According to Bloomberg, Russian troops are not receiving enough new soldiers to replace the losses at the front. Many regional officials are not fully meeting their quotas for recruiting soldiers.

This could lead to the introduction of a new mobilization. Some sources claim that officials may present this as a rotation measure to rest troops on the front line. Others say that the draft could take place as early as this year.

The need for mobilization arose due to significant losses of Russian troops in the conflict with Ukraine. Russia no longer has sufficient reserves to repel attacks and regain control of the border.

Meeting the quotas for recruiting new soldiers has become the number one task for the authorities. They are even forced to use financial incentives to attract more people to military service. Wealthy regions also attract young people from poorer areas with their monetary offers.

However, despite all efforts, the Russian authorities are not achieving the desired results. The lack of soldiers and insufficient recruitment make maintaining the current strategy in Ukraine an increasingly difficult task for Russia. They can no longer consider capturing Kyiv and other cities due to the lack of a sufficient number of soldiers.

President Putin is trying to attract more people to military service by offering them significant financial payouts. The mayors of Moscow and St. Petersburg are also announcing large sums of money for new recruits.

But such a strategy may be unnecessary given the labor shortage and economic downturn in Russia. Instead, the government should focus on drafting conscripts.

In Ukraine, the human resources situation is better, as the country receives significant military assistance from the US and Europe. Ukrainian forces are in good condition and are ready to launch a counter-offensive against Russia.
