The borscht set will become even more expensive: Ukrainians warned about the deficit of a popular vegetable.
Prices for agricultural products in Ukraine rose in 2024 due to negative weather conditions, a labor shortage, and rising global prices for fertilizers. This was reported by the commercial director of the agro-enterprise Andriy Marushchak.
It turned out that the cabbage harvest was very poor due to the abnormal heat last summer. Some producers are still unable to gather the harvest, but it is not expected to be good.
The prices for all locally produced vegetables remain very high
On the other hand, other vegetable crops, such as carrots and onions, have a good harvest this year. However, the cost of these vegetables also remains quite high.
The main reasons for the price increase are the war, which caused a labor shortage in agriculture, as well as the rising cost of plant protection products and fertilizers on the global market.
