Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour forced to demolish shed after neighbors' complaints
Legendary British rock icon, David Gilmour, was forced to tear down his 'obtrusive' shed after neighbors claimed the plans were 'deliberately misleading'. The famous guitarist, 79-year-old Gilmour, built this structure to replace a previous shed and a small summer house in the corner of his garden in Hampstead, The Telegraph reported. However, Gilmour's neighbors are demanding the retrospective planning be denied, labeling the new building as 'obtrusive' and 'intrusive'. The shed was 2.5 meters high, 1.9 meters wide, and 2.9 meters deep. The plans submitted by Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson, were later changed following the outrage. Camden Council has already instructed the couple to move the old structure and build it further from the back fence. If the requirements are not met, the star may face enforcement action. The head of the Hampstead Hill Gardens Residents Association, Audrey Mandela, told The Telegraph: 'The application should be rejected as this existing structure is intrusive, dominant, and significantly more visually and physically intrusive than what was originally approved or what stood there previously.' After raising these concerns, the guitarist modified the plans to reduce the shed's size and promised to place it about 2.5 meters from the garden boundary. Camden Council approved the updated application and gave Gilmour one month to make these changes. The plans stated: 'It is important that the new building does not impinge on neighbor's amenities, such as management, loss of privacy, or shading.' It was ensured that the corrected structure would not lead to amenity issues. Gilmour is reevaluating his own plans, discussing with local friends - it is never straightforward. And now the famous musician David Gilmour has had to rethink his plans for the shed after neighbors decided that the new building was 'obtrusive' and 'excessive'. Such is country life!
