Garlic prices have sharply increased: what are the prices in the market.
Garlic prices in Ukraine have nearly doubled
This year, garlic prices in Ukraine have significantly risen, reaching 140-160 hryvnias per kilogram. According to Tetiana Popovych, head of the marketing department of 'Shuvar', one of the main reasons for the price increase is the heat and drought that negatively affected the garlic harvest. The reduction in garlic planting areas in China, the main supplier of this product, also had an impact.
Despite the fact that the price of planting garlic has remained at last year's level, prices continue to stay high due to limited supply in the Ukrainian market. It is forecasted that there will be no significant price reduction before the New Year holidays, but a stabilization of prices may occur in the winter season. Of course, prices can fluctuate depending on yield and import volumes.
