Sporting Stadium Increased by 2000 Seats: How the Arena Changed After Renovation.
According to The Sun: The 'Sporting' stadium underwent an incredible transformation this summer.. but work is still ongoing as the 2025-26 season has begun.
This iconic Portuguese stadium, built only in 2003 for 150 million pounds, received a new look during the off-season.
The stadium has undergone numerous upgrades, including new arcs and player seating arrangements.
After completing the 2024-25 season, during which Cristiano Ronaldo's former club won the championship, taking into account the significant contribution of Arsenal newcomer Viktor Dzhokeres, 'Sporting' began renovations.
The replacement of the pitch with a hybrid surface was particularly noticeable.
And it passed its first test with flying colors as the official Premier League rated it 10/10 for the club's 6-0 victory over 'Arokaya' in the first home game of the season.
Not limited to replacing the pitch, the entire playing area has become LOWER to add 2,000 seats around the stadium's base.
This increased capacity from 50,095 to 52,095 seats.
And this new feature - not ready for the match against 'Porto' on August 30 - WILL be ready as seating is currently being installed.
The substitutes area has also been completely updated, and now up to 28 players and coaches can occupy the bench.
Future plans include renting corporate boxes on non-match days for private events.
There will be more work inside the stadium as large screens are currently being installed.
In the meantime, supporters can watch the mini-scoreboard on the advertising boards at the sides of the pitch.
But over time, plans are in place to install several large screens.
The club is now planning to utilize its corporate boxes, renting them out on non-match days for private events.
During the off-season, the 'Sporting' stadium underwent significant changes: a new pitch, additional spectator seats, an updated substitutes area, and plans for corporate box rentals. All of this will contribute to improving comfort and convenience for players, fans, and stadium guests.Read also
