Racing in Cheltenham at Risk: Track Inspection to be Announced on Sunday.
Prospects for Racing in Cheltenham
According to The Sun: The racing event in Cheltenham, dedicated to the prestigious Paddy Power Gold Cup, may be canceled. A morning inspection scheduled for 7:30 AM on Saturday will assess the condition of the track. This decision has been prompted by forecasts of heavy rain expected to continue through late Friday night.
The Clerk of the Course, John Pullen, reported:
“We received 12 mm of rain throughout the day today, and another 7 mm overnight.”
The risks of cancellation are quite high, and the final decision will depend on the weather conditions during the inspection.
Cancellations may affect many participants and spectators who are looking forward to this sporting event. Weather, which continually impacts horse racing, remains a concern for not just the organizers but also for fans hoping for thrilling spectacles.
