Christopher Nkunku flies to finalize the £38 million AC Milan transfer as Chelsea can continue with the signing of Garnacho from Man Utd.
Nkunku's move to AC Milan
According to The Sun: Chelsea player Christopher Nkunku is traveling to Italy to finalize a £38 million deal with AC Milan.
Initially, Nkunku seemed set for a loan move to Bayern as Chelsea struggled to find clubs willing to meet the asking price.
However, Milan's interest quickly turned into a concrete offer.
This deal could accelerate Chelsea's search for new reinforcements, especially after Alejandro Garnacho and Javi Simons.
Milan will pay a guaranteed sum between £33 and £34 million for Nkunku, while the rest will depend on his performance.
This transfer would save Chelsea financial losses, as Nkunku was signed for £56 million two years ago and is now estimated at around £35 million.
Moreover, Nkunku's sale would be another success for Chelsea's recruitment team, as the club has completed contracts worth about half a billion pounds this summer.
It should be noted that the £38 million for Nkunku could affect the club's financial situation; however, Chelsea will eventually have to pay £60 million for Simons and £50 million for Garnacho.
Nkunku joined Chelsea from Leipzig with high hopes but suffered a serious injury during the pre-season.
His career at Chelsea did not go as planned, although he scored five goals in the Conference League and helped the team win the title last season.
Nkunku also participated in the Club World Cup in the USA, where he scored one goal in six games.
Nevertheless, he and Nicolas Jackson were unable to make Chelsea's squad for the first two PL games as the club attempted to sell them.
Reports suggest that Chelsea's activity in the transfer window will help the club comply with Premier League financial rules and the terms of UEFA penalties.
As they balance high spending on new signings like Joao Pedro and Jamie Hittingens with successful sales like Noni Madueke and Nkunku, the club is adjusting the squad without the risk of further financial penalties.
