Will the Russians return to international competitions in bobsleigh and skeleton? The decision is known.
The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation has not made a decision on Russia's return
On March 29, at an extraordinary congress of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF), no decision was made regarding the return of representatives from Russia to the international arena. All this time, Russians remain excluded from competitions held under the aegis of the IBSF. This was stated by the head of the All-Ukrainian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation, Mykhailo Heraskevych.
Heraskevych reported that the consideration of the issue of the return of Russians was postponed until September of this year, when the next congress of the IBSF will take place.
In his comments, Heraskevych noted that even some countries from BRICS are voting for the suspension of Russian athletes. He emphasized that Ukraine has the support of major states involved in bobsleigh and skeleton.
Heraskevych also pointed out that the issue of neutral status for athletes is very important, as there is a risk that Russian athletes will be funded by a sanctioned Russian company.
Vladyslav Heraskevych previously spoke about his experience communicating with Russian athletes and officials. He noted that representatives of the Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation of Russia actively support the war.
