Pure manipulation: Popenko revealed inconvenient truth about water tariffs in Ukraine.
Implementation of European drinking water quality standards in Ukraine can lead to negative consequences
Deputy Minister of Health Marina Slobodnichenko stated that the implementation of European drinking water quality standards in Ukraine will mean that all water in the country will be classified as technical. According to her, this means that there is no drinking water, only technical water.
On his part, energy sector expert Oleg Popenko sharply criticized such statements by Marina Slobodnichenko, calling them "pure manipulation by the authorities." He noted that the adoption of EU standards will require the authorities, water utilities, and the state to comply with these standards and fund their implementation. At the same time, the expert noted that water supply tariffs have already risen to European levels in some cities in Ukraine, but even with this, a complete modernization of the water supply system has not occurred.
