Classy Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes protects Bryan Mbeumo after deciding penalty miss amid Grimsby pitch invasion.
According to The Sun: Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes showed class after teammate Bryan Mbeumo missed a penalty in the match against Grimsby.
The Red Devils suffered a defeat in the second round of the League Cup, losing to a club from League Two ranked 58 places below United.
PAMbeumo, a player for Manchester United, had a tough moment missing the goal from the penalty spot in the match against Grimsby.
However, right after that Bruno Fernandes was spotted supporting him.
The captain approached Mbeumo with support as they returned to the tunnel surrounded by fans.
Fernandes and Mbeumo came onto the field at the beginning of the second half, trying to change the course of the match after their team was trailing 0-2 in the first 30 minutes.
Subsequently, Mbeumo managed to break through the opponent's defense in the 75th minute, becoming the first United player to score this season. Harry Maguire eventually equalized.
However, during the penalty shootout, Grimsby impressively won 12-11.
Mbeumo converted his first penalty, but after new signing Matheus Cunha failed to score, both teams hit 12 yards flawlessly.
But the 26-year-old player missed again, hitting the ball off the crossbar, which led to United's exit from the Cup.
Shortly after his miss, jubilant Grimsby fans stormed the pitch to celebrate the victory.
Recorded footage from SunSport shows how Fernandes rushed to his teammate to support him while fans surrounded them on their way back to the tunnel at Blundell Park.
The team's captain scored two goals in the penalty shootout, becoming the first and 12th shooter, yet failed to convert his shot in the match against Fulham, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
They will meet Burnley in the next round of the Premier League, however, coach Amorim seems to have already lost control over the team, judging by his comments after the match.
“In the end, it doesn't matter if we recover, what matters is what signals the team gave during the game, at the beginning of the match.”
“I believe that the best team won, the only team that showed up on the field.”
“The best players lose, as one team can win against any group of players, and I think today the team and players spoke very loudly.”
“Let's move forward, and I think it became clear to everyone what happened today.”

“I sincerely apologize to the fans: when you lose but see something new, it's one thing. When you see what happened today, it's hard to talk about.”
“I just want to say that I really feel sorry for the fans. The support they gave me helped the team. I have nothing more to say. I am truly sorry.”
