Kyiv resident grows the largest apple in Ukraine: the weight of the record fruit exceeds 1.2 kg.
According to ТСН: A new national record has been set in the capital of Ukraine – a Kyiv resident has grown the largest apple in the history of the country. The weight of the fruit reached 1 kilogram 281 grams, and the circumference was 50 centimeters.
This record belongs to 63-year-old Kyiv resident Yuriy Kozhemyakin, a veterinarian by profession. Gardening has been his long-time passion. In his own garden, the man has planted ten apple trees, which are already three years old. Among them is the Jumbo Pomme variety, known for its large fruits.
During the blooming period, three apples set on the tree, but as a result, only one remained that reached record sizes. Due to the significant weight of the fruit, Yuriy had to strengthen the branch with ties and additional supports to prevent it from breaking.
Official recognition of the record
The record for 'The Largest Apple in Ukraine' has been officially entered into the National Register of Records in the 'Living Nature' category.
Yuriy Kozhemyakin dedicated his achievement to his grandfather Vasyl Cherebnychenko and grandmother Tetiana Shurova, who taught him to love nature and gardening from childhood.
This record demonstrates not only the success of an individual but also the love of Ukrainians for gardening and natural resources. Such achievements contribute to the popularization of agricultural traditions in Ukraine and can inspire new generations to engage in the agricultural sector.
