Ukrainians Abroad Can Simplify the Exchange of Driver's Licenses: In Which Countries This Is Possible.
Many Ukrainians abroad are interested in the issue of exchanging driver's licenses. Some countries provide the opportunity to simplify the exchange process without the need to take courses and exams again.
Spain
Ukrainian driver's licenses can be exchanged for local ones in Spain if the person has a valid driver's license as of February 24, 2022, and has a residence permit in Spain. For this, it is necessary to contact the Main Department of Traffic, undergo a medical examination, and pay the established fee.
Italy
There is an agreement between Ukraine and Italy on mutual recognition and exchange of driver's licenses. To carry out the exchange, one must have a Ukrainian driver's license, a residence permit in Italy, and submit an application to the local Civil Motorization department. A medical examination and payment of necessary fees are also required. It is important that the license is valid at the time of application submission.
United Arab Emirates
Agreements between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates allow Ukrainians to exchange their driver's licenses. This significantly simplifies the process, as in other cases it is necessary to complete a full training course and pass exams to obtain a local license. Submitting an application, undergoing a medical examination, and paying fees are mandatory for exchanging driver's licenses in this country.
Several European and Middle Eastern countries have agreements with Ukraine for exchanging driver's licenses without the need for additional courses and exams. This is very convenient for Ukrainians who work or live abroad, making it easier for them to obtain local driver's licenses.
