An urgent search has been launched for the swimmer who went missing during the race, which involved 2,800 participants.
According to The Sun: Mykolaiv Svetchnikov was swimming across the choppy waters from the Asian side of Istanbul to the European side when he was lost from sight.
The Turkish Coast Guard and maritime police initiated a large-scale search for the athlete on Monday - two hours after the competition in the Bosphorus ended.
The Russian swimmer was competing with more than 2,800 people when he failed to reach the finish line.
During the four-mile race in the Bosphorus, a swimmer went missing while swimming from the Asian shore to the European side. The Turkish Coast Guard and maritime police started the search for the participant just two hours after the competition ended.Read also
