Kyiv's Dynamo learns potential Europa League opponent—but must first get past Romanian side.
Who Ukrainian clubs could face in European competitions
According to Espreso.tv: UEFA has identified the team that could meet Dynamo Kyiv in the second qualifying round of the Europa League. If Dynamo advances past the first stage—where they will face Romanian club Universitatea Cluj—their next opponent would be Greek side PAOK. Should Dynamo fall short, they would still have a chance to compete in the Conference League, where Norway's Brann would await them.
Other Ukrainian clubs in action
Two more Ukrainian teams are also set to play in the second round of the Conference League:
- Zhytomyr-based Polissya will take on Denmark's Copenhagen;
- Cherkasy club LNZ will face Belgium's Gent.
These matches are scheduled for July 23 and 30. The draw for the first qualifying round of the Europa League took place on June 16.
These fixtures carry significant weight for Ukrainian clubs, as strong performances on the international stage can boost their rankings and financial resources. Dynamo, Polissya, and LNZ are all looking to solidify their standing in European tournaments, which also helps raise the profile of Ukrainian football amid the ongoing challenges facing the country. Notably, these qualifiers come as teams are still preparing for the new season, adding extra tension and intrigue to the matchups.
