Up to 10 Hours Without Electricity: Popenko Announced Unfavorable Forecast Regarding Outages.


Ukraine is experiencing prolonged electricity outages in most of its regions due to strikes by the Russian side on the energy infrastructure. Experts predict that the outages will last longer than expected. Damaged power generators that provide peak loads in the morning and evening.
The situation is particularly severe in Sumy, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Kyiv. In Dnipro, the duration of outages has already reached 6-10 hours per day. Although, due to imports and increased capacity of nuclear power plants in the west of the country, the situation has stabilized to some extent, Central and Eastern Ukraine still lacks sufficient electricity. Restoring normal energy supply will take a long Time.
The strikes have also damaged substations near the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants, hindering the transmission of electricity from the West to East Ukraine. The prolonged lack of electricity supply has lasted more than two days in the city of Odesa. Experts call for preparing the energy infrastructure for similar situations and providing cities with backup energy sources.
