In August 2025, vulnerable groups of Ukrainians can apply for multi-purpose cash assistance from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). This opportunity has become available in one of the cities where a data collection point has resumed operations.

This is mentioned in the UNHCR's announcement.

Who is eligible for international assistance

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees is a global intergovernmental organization whose activities aim to save lives, protect rights, and create a better future for refugees, displaced persons, and stateless individuals.

Residents of Mykolaiv will be able to register for cash assistance from UNHCR in August 2025. It is intended for:

  • refugees who have returned home;
  • internally displaced persons, as well as those who have returned to their permanent residence.

Payments will be available if the income per person in the household does not exceed the sum of 5,400 UAH, and if no other similar assistance has been received in the last three months. It is necessary to belong to one of the vulnerability categories:

  1. The family has only one parent, with children under 18 years of age/elderly persons (from 55 years);
  2. The household is headed by single elderly persons, or an elderly person is raising minor children;
  3. The family has persons with special needs: disabilities/chronic diseases.
'If you have received assistance of 2,220 UAH/person/month from another agency/UN humanitarian organization, you may be denied financial assistance from UNHCR. Humanitarian organizations coordinate efforts so that families/individuals do not receive assistance multiple times or from different partners,' the organizers clarify.

The amount of cash assistance is 3,600 UAH for each family member and covers three months. Thus, a total of 10,800 UAH will be paid to each person.
