Ukrainian high jumper Oleg Doroshchuk became the European Indoor Champion
Ukrainian high jumper Oleg Doroshchuk became the European Indoor Athletics Champion. He managed to clear the bar at a height of 2.32 m, while his competitor, Czech Jan Stefela, was unable to clear this height. After receiving the gold medal, Doroshchuk attempted to clear the bar at a height of 2.34 m, which became his best result of the season and in the world. Another Ukrainian, Dmytro Nikitin, finished in fifth place. Oleg Doroshchuk's gold medal is the first gold medal for Ukraine in men's high jump at the European Indoor Athletics Championships.
In the final of the European Indoor Athletics Championship in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, Ukrainian Oleg Doroshchuk won gold at a height of 2.34 m, Czech Jan Stefela took second place with a result of 2.29 m, Italian Matteo Scioli also shared second place with a result of 2.29 m, Italian Manuel Lando came in fourth with a result of 2.26 m, and Ukrainian Dmytro Nikitin also placed fourth with a result of 2.26 m.
