The victory with a score of 6-2 6-1 over Indonesian star Yanis Tjen propelled her into the third round, where she could face the 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina if she beats Czech Teresa Valentova.

Quick victory and improved serve

This match lasted just 60 minutes — her fastest victory since turning professional.

This was Raducanu's 26th win at the Tour level in 2025 — the most in a single season of her career.

In recent months, particularly since the US Sunshine Swing in March, Raducanu has significantly improved her serve, which has become a serious weapon. She is hitting the ball harder and consistently finding the target, not giving away easy points.

In the first round against Japanese player Emi Shibahara, she opened the match with a serve at 100 miles per hour, while against Tjen, her first serve was clocked at 98 miles per hour.

Although Tjen is a qualified player with a good reputation at the ITF level (100 wins from 113 matches since turning professional in May 2024), during the match she couldn't handle Raducanu's powerful serves and lost the set after just 31 minutes.

Game analysis and coach's impact

The only issue for Raducanu was her shoes: at one point in the second set, she had to stop the game to adjust her footwear.

This allowed Raducanu to gain an advantage, and with a score of 2-0, she never looked back.

Coach Francisco Roig continuously gave her advice throughout the match, saying before a pivotal moment:

“We take, breathe, and prepare for the next.”

Former British number one, Tim Henman, was impressed by the level of play, noting:

“High class from Raducanu. She suffocates Tjen in rallies. This is a ruthless level.”

Raducanu, who recorded eight double faults and no aces, commented:

“I’m very pleased with how I played. The second round, after two days, slightly breaks the rhythm.”

“I’m glad I could impress her. Tjen is an exceptionally dangerous opponent. She played very well, and I thought that any ball I threw into the center wouldn’t be good enough; she would easily take it.”

Raducanu could face former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina again in the third round.

This victory underscores Raducanu's rise as a player on the world stage, and the possibility of meeting Rybakina creates intrigue for tennis fans and raises the stakes in upcoming matches. Players of both levels will carefully monitor developments in this matchup, as each match can change the tournament standings and the careers of the athletes.
