The Naftogaz Group will receive financing for gas purchases from Norway through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
'This assistance is very important for the resilience of the energy system. I thank Norway and the EBRD for their consistent support and assistance to the country,' said the head of the Naftogaz Group Roman Chumak.
This funding is part of a support package aimed at ensuring Ukraine's energy security. Norway is allocating approximately €380 million for gas purchases, the restoration of power grids, emergency generators, and nuclear safety.
'In addition to weapons and ammunition, Ukraine needs energy support the most. People in Kyiv often remain without electricity. Therefore, energy support, especially funding for gas purchases, is an important element of Norway's assistance,' said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
According to Naftogaz, since the beginning of 2024, Russia has carried out 16 massive attacks on Ukraine's gas infrastructure. In total, the enemy has launched over 100 missiles at Naftogaz facilities.
