According to Espreso.tv: Following the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov, Oleksandr Syrsky took over as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, sparking a rift between the two. Syrsky gained recognition for successful military operations in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson, yet his leadership has drawn criticism due to heavy casualties during the fighting in Bakhmut and other events.

With over 40 years of military service, Oleksandr Syrsky was instrumental in Ukraine’s defense of Kyiv, as well as in the Kharkiv offensive and the Kursk operation. Mykhailo Fedorov was removed from his post as Minister of Defense on February 8, 2024, a move that triggered tensions with the newly appointed commander. Syrsky stated:
