NAEC "Energoatom" plans to repair two more nuclear power plant units by 2024

NAEC "Energoatom" plans to carry out repairs of two more nuclear power plant (NPP) units by 2024 to prepare for the heating season. This was reported by acting Chairman of the Board of the company Petro Kotin.

Petro Kotin noted that there are still two units left, which will be in the energy system until November. The company plans to operate all nine units, as previously announced.

NAEC "Energoatom" managed to reduce repairs by more than 40 days to return the units to the grid faster.

According to Petro Kotin, the company owns three NPPs with a capacity of nine units of 7.8 GW after the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP by Russian forces. These are Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, and South Ukrainian NPPs.

The company also announced that the repair of another unit, in addition to the two mentioned, will likely be postponed to next year.

Electricity consumption restrictions continue

On August 8, from 17:00 to 22:00, electricity consumption restrictions remain for industry and business.

Ukrainians have been living without power outages for several days, but energy experts consider forecasts about returning to schedules to be impractical.

Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko emphasized that the situation in the Ukrainian energy system will improve, but the threat of new attacks must be taken into account.

DTEK plans to return 60-70% of the generation lost during enemy attacks in the spring of this year to operation by October.

The head of "Ukrenergo", Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, predicts a reduction in power outages in August-October. According to him, the electricity deficit in the energy system will gradually decrease in the absence of new attacks.
