Yermak discussed with former NATO Secretary General Rasmussen the prospects of Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.
Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, had a telephone conversation with former NATO Secretary General (2009-2014) Anders Fogh Rasmussen regarding his visit to Washington and the 'Ramstein' meeting.
As co-chairs of the International Working Group on Security Issues and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Yermak and Rasmussen agreed on the further plan of its work. They also discussed the implementation of recommendations from the 'Euro-Atlantic Future of Ukraine' report, which was published in May.
Yermak emphasized the main priorities of Ukraine, including a clear invitation to NATO with defined timelines and conditions for entry, as well as lifting restrictions on types of weapons, specifically the use of long-range weapons for attacks deep into the territory of the Russian Federation.
In November 2023, The Guardian reported that Rasmussen proposed the option of partial NATO membership for Ukraine without the territories occupied by Russia.
