Everton hosted Mansfield at their new Hill Dickinson stadium, where the team played its first official match just last week. The game was set to start at 19:45, but the kickoff was postponed to 20:00.

The club's statement on social media appeared just 11 minutes before the scheduled start:

“Tonight’s game will now start at 8pm to allow fans safe access to the stadium in time for kick-off.”

The Merseyside club has started a new era at their 52,769-seat stadium after moving from their historic Goodison Park at the end of last season. Life at the new stadium began with a win on Sunday, when Jack Grealish provided two assists to help the team secure a 2-0 victory over Brighton.

Now, the team under David Moyes is keen to maintain positive momentum by securing a win against Mansfield, who finished second after beating Chesterfield in the previous round. Mansfield is hoping for an upset and to continue their winning streak of three matches.

Moyes has the opportunity to strengthen the squad with new players. Recent signing Tyler Dibling, who transferred from Southampton for £40 million, has also made it to the matchday squad.
