European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced an additional €1 billion specifically earmarked for drone production, as part of a broader €90 billion credit program. This move is part of the European Commission’s ongoing efforts to assist Ukraine during the current crisis.

Funding the Defense Sector

Specifically, the European Commission has approved a €10 billion financing plan aimed at manufacturing drones, missiles, and aircraft. Von der Leyen underscored the significance of this step, stating:

“I want to announce an extra €1 billion for drones. We have also agreed on €10 billion for drones, aircraft, and missiles.” – Ursula von der Leyen
