The European Parliament approved the EU budget for 2025, which includes funds for Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the European Parliament.

It has already been signed by the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, after MEPs supported it by a majority vote - the document became law. 418 deputies voted in favor of the budget, 185 against, and 67 abstained.

The total budget for 2025 amounts to 199.4 billion euros.

Members of the European Parliament ensured more effective support for the EU budget for 2025 in addressing issues such as healthcare, humanitarian aid, border management, and combating climate change.

The European Parliament also reminded that in February 2024, during the review of the EU's long-term budget, the EP achieved a significant increase in spending on key priorities, particularly on supporting Ukraine, which MEPs managed to preserve in the 2025 budget.

The European Commission's budget proposal provided for Ukraine 15.2 billion euros within the Ukraine Facility program.

'This budget is aimed at addressing urgent issues, including Russian aggression in the war against Ukraine, ongoing migration pressure, escalation of the crisis in the Middle East, the impact of natural disasters, and, importantly, the competitiveness of our economies. This will enable the EU to effectively respond to these urgent realities,' emphasized the chairman of the EP Budget Committee Johann Van Overtveldt.

More than 90% of the EU budget funds activities in and outside EU countries, benefiting citizens, regions, farmers, researchers, students, NGOs, and businesses.

It is also worth noting that, unlike national budgets, the EU budget is primarily aimed at investments to stimulate growth and opportunities throughout the European Union.

Let us remind you that the EU will allocate €1 billion of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine's 'defense.'
