Djibril Cisse's reaction to Wayne Rooney's accusations

According to The Sun: Former QPR player Djibril Cisse reacted to Wayne Rooney's claims, who accused his team of 'throwing' the match against Manchester City in the decisive title clash in 2012.

The French forward regards these comments as disrespectful and unfair towards him and his teammates.

In the match on May 13, 2012, Manchester City snatched the Premier League title from Manchester United thanks to Sergio Aguero's last-minute goal, finishing the game with a score of 3-2 against QPR at the Etihad.

While City fans celebrated, accusations emerged that QPR supposedly 'threw' the game when their survival in the Premier League was already secure. Goalkeeper Paddy Kenny and Cisse himself were at the center of these accusations.

Rooney, one of the loudest critics, emphasized that QPR's defense was not properly set up, and also condemned Cisse's celebration with Manchester City player Samir Nasri.

Rooney said: 'It's strange. QPR gave the ball straight to City after the second goal, and Cisse celebrated with City players.'
'That looks wrong.'

Cisse, speaking exclusively to FourFourTwo on behalf of Poker Strategy, sharply responded, denying any hints of collusion.

'I celebrated with Samir Nasri, my friend for 15 years. I didn’t care what the Manchester City players were doing — I was just happy for him and glad we stayed in the league,' he emphasized.

Cisse played a crucial role in QPR's survival, scoring six goals in eight matches after his transfer in January. In the match at the Etihad, QPR led 2-1 until Aguero scored his decisive goal, and Cisse assures that the team had no intention of aiding City in winning the title.

Cisse added: 'If we wanted them to win, we would have let them score 4-0 or 5-0, but we didn’t do that.'
'We fought, and we had a strong team. It’s not our fault that United lost the title. They dropped many points throughout the season.'

Cisse's response focuses on Manchester United's inconsistent form, highlighting that QPR was indeed trying to gain points despite difficult circumstances. It only underscores how complex football matches at the highest level can be, where many factors influence the outcome.
