Tennis player Swiatek sharply responded to a journalist's question about her hairstyle.
Unusual question at the press conference
According to The Sun: Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek was extremely surprised when asked during a press conference about the possibility of braiding her hair at the US Open.
The world number two talked with Polish media after her victory in the second round against Dutch tennis player Suzanne Lamens with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 on Thursday in New York.
X @Eurosport_PLIga's relationship with the press in Poland has been quite tense recently.
After the press conference, she was asked in English about the possibility of braiding her hair, particularly like her opponent Naomi Osaka, who also changed her hairstyle at the tournament.
“What kind of question is that? Excuse me? Do I want to braid my hair? No. What's going on?”
The video, which became a hit on social media, shows the journalist getting up and leaving the room while Swiatek looks shocked.
Iga has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the coverage of her activities in Polish media, particularly the criticism regarding her relationship with psychologist Daria Abramowicz.
She also touched on this sensitive topic while raising the Venus Rosewater Dish trophy in London, where she defeated American Amanda Anisimova with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
This was her first major title after announcing a positive test for the banned substance Trimethazidine, for which Iga received a one-month suspension, completed at the end of last year.

Career-altering changes
This year her ranking dropped from second to eighth in the world, which raised concerns among fans due to changes in her coaching team.
After several unexpected defeats, including in the semifinals of the Australian and French Opens, the requests increased.
Iga expresses frustration about how her tournaments and personal life are covered by journalists on the WTA Tour.
54th round at Wimbledon, earning £3 million for the victory, she commented:
“There were a lot of people, especially back home, who doubted me. And they didn’t make it easier for me to do my job. I mean, the expectations and all that.
“I hope I proved to everyone that they should just leave me alone, let me do my job, focus on myself, and I will show great results, like I did here.”
