National Selection for Eurovision-2025
Future Culture will compete for the right to represent Ukraine at Eurovision-2025 with the song Waste my time. According to the vocalist, the title of the composition literally translates as «to waste one's time». However, for the band, this expression has a deeper meaning, as time is not wasted if you enjoy it.
The band Future Culture with the song Waste my time made it to the finals of the National Selection«In our opinion, people should learn to rest. During wartime, a huge influx of information is directed at us: news, communication. And now active recreation is promoted as an activity, seeking new things. But this can be harmful. Sometimes you just need to stay at home and enjoy the silence if possible, if there is no siren. For the psyche of Ukrainians, this is especially important right now,» emphasized Daria Remez.
The vocalist admitted that the band did not write this song specifically for the National Selection: «We did not write it for the National Selection. This song is the first for us, like a recorded track. Because everything else is usually improvisation. Why this song? Because it was the first similar to a song and lasted 3 minutes. Because usually our compositions last 6-7 minutes, and this does not fit the Eurovision format.»
Drummer Andriy Lytvynenko shared that the idea for this song was inspired by his wife. He said that after a stressful week full of work and tasks, they decided to spend the weekend together and go out somewhere. But finally, they spent all that time at home on the couch. His wife, Masha, noted that the weekend was wasted, but Lytvynenko thought otherwise - for him, it was not wasted time.
«So, the idea is simple - we need to stop using phrases like «I wasted my time», «we waste time», because time cannot be wasted. I believe that any time is a great wonder, just like life itself. Therefore, we need to appreciate these moments and learn to relax and recover. And not be afraid to do nothing, because it can be extremely important. Because sometimes active rest only leads to fatigue, after which you need to rest even more,» Andriy Lytvynenko told in an interview with «Suspilne».
