Finland, at the request of "Naftogaz", arrested Russian assets worth tens of millions of dollars.
JSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and the Naftogaz Group have succeeded in a case against Russia
The District Court of Helsinki blocked Russian assets on the territory of Finland at the request of JSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and five companies of the Naftogaz Group. According to the company, these assets are estimated at tens of millions of dollars.
This decision is part of the Naftogaz Group's strategy to compensate for losses caused to the ARC Crimea, which was seized by Russia. This is also the first instance of the arrest of Russian assets outside Ukraine in execution of the Hague arbitration ruling in the case regarding the expropriation of property from Ukrainian companies in Crimea in 2014. This is an interim step towards restoring justice and returning assets to the Naftogaz Group.
"Since Russia refuses to pay Naftogaz the funds provided by the Hague decision, we are using all available mechanisms to recover them. Today we have taken another step closer to restoring justice. At the same Time, we are actively enforcing the arbitration decision in other jurisdictions where there are Russian assets," stated the head of the Naftogaz Group, Oleksiy Chernyshov.
Interest on unpaid funds, as determined by the arbitration decision, continues to accrue until full compensation is achieved.
