Ban for Clayton Lewis over match-related fraud
According to The Sun: Former Scunthorpe player Clayton Lewis has received a five-year ban due to violations related to match manipulation. The New Zealander became a figure in a betting scandal that shocked Australian football.
The 28-year-old footballer received $10,000 USD for deliberately receiving a yellow card during the match between Macarthur and Sydney in December 2023.
Lewis intentionally participated in match-fixing.
This situation highlights serious issues with gambling in sports, which are gradually becoming more relevant. Not only individual players' reputations are suffering from this story, but the entire football community as well. It is important for organizations to control the situation and take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
