The war in Ukraine cost 278 billion dollars in aid from the USA

According to the Fox News channel, the war in Ukraine in 2024 cost the country 278 billion dollars in aid, of which almost 87 billion dollars were sent from Washington.

The beginning of 2024 led to lively debates in the US Congress regarding the provision of more military assistance to Ukraine. This process highlighted serious divisions within the Republican Party and underscored Kyiv's deep dependence on US support.

Months of discussions had serious implications for Ukraine, both in terms of defense against Russian missiles and in countering Russian attacks on the front.

'In 2023, Russia failed to achieve success despite significant resources. However, US policy in 2024 changed the reality of the war for Ukraine. A halt in supplies not only made Ukraine vulnerable in the east, especially in the Donetsk region, but also frustrated Kyiv, NATO allies, and those who argued that defending Ukraine aligned with US security interests.'

Particular attention was drawn to the Biden administration's ban on American missile strikes on Russia, which he lifted in November.

Throughout the war, Russia used missiles and drones to strike Ukraine. However, in 2024, Moscow intensified air attacks on cities, especially in the east of the country, despite the complete destruction of urban areas.

In August, Ukraine unexpectedly conducted an operation in the Kursk region of Russia. This was done to distract forces from the eastern front and gain an advantage during peace negotiations.

This operation became the largest attack on Russia since World War II and involved not only Ukrainian but also North Korean troops. Support was provided by about 11,000 North Korean soldiers, making North Korea the first foreign state to do so.

Former US President Donald Trump stated during his election campaign that the war would end before his second term began. However, after winning the elections, his stance on this changed.

At his first press conference after being elected for a second term, he stated: 'We are trying to stop this terrible war that has been going on in Ukraine with Russia. We are making some progress.'
