Official banned for life from holding sports positions after being implicated in soliciting sex services from Russia.

Lifetime ban for former IBU president Anders Besseberg
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has imposed a lifetime ban on former president of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Anders Besseberg from holding sports positions. This decision was made in connection with Besseberg's corrupt actions during his leadership of the IBU. His actions included receiving bribes in the form of watches, sex services, and hunting trips to Russia.
The ban was also a result of facilitating and protecting Russia's interests, particularly in the anti-doping context. Individuals in charge of biathlon in Russia were bribed, which significantly strengthened the accusations against Besseberg.
The CAS ruling on the lifetime ban is based on the seriousness of the violations committed by Besseberg. It is worth noting that the former IBU president is already 79 years old and led the International Biathlon Union for 25 years, from 1993 to 2018.
