According to The Sun: Actress Jemma Atkinson announced that her six-year-old daughter suffers from epilepsy, which has significantly changed their lives.

Jemma shared this during one of her podcast episodes, noting that Mia, her daughter from her relationship with partner Gorka Marquez, was diagnosed with epilepsy after a series of seizures.

“My daughter is undergoing treatment for epilepsy. She has seizures where she just freezes for a while, but her condition has improved significantly; it was worse a year ago.”

Jemma emphasized that upon learning of the diagnosis, she decided to thoroughly study this illness. She also mentioned that doctors suggested introducing Mia to a ketogenic diet, as it could have a positive effect on her brain activity.

“The doctor told me: ‘If you can switch her to a ketogenic diet, it may help with brain function’.”

According to Jemma, Mia's condition has improved over the last six months, and there have been no seizures.

Epilepsy is a brain disorder that can cause disturbances in the electrical activity of neurons, which in turn triggers seizures.
