NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe General Christopher Cavoli stated at the World Economic Forum in Davos that Russia lacks sufficient military potential to make a significant breakthrough on the front in Ukraine. He emphasized that he is not worried about the possibility of a sudden defeat for Ukraine. 'I do not see the potential for a massive breakthrough. And this is not a political view, but a military one. It is related to the situation on both sides - the effective defense being carried out by the Ukrainians, but also the difficulties for the Russian side to create significant offensive forces to achieve a potential breakthrough.'

According to Cavoli, this year's hostilities will be characterized by a greater number of smaller offensive operations that deplete the Russian side. He noted that an example of this is Russia's enlistment of thousands of North Korean soldiers.

General Cavoli anticipates further escalation of the discrepancies between the Russians' desires for offensive actions and the lack of personnel. He believes that this will force the opponent to rely on deterrence weapons.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky previously expressed the possibility of ending the war by 2025 if Ukraine receives reliable security guarantees to strengthen its position in negotiations.
