According to The Sun: Countless memories remain about the iconic sports presenter Jerry Harrison, who passed away at the age of 89.

Harrison hosted the 'Match of the Week' program on Anglia TV and was on screens from the 70s to the 90s.

After leaving ITV, Harrison collaborated with several other broadcasters and contributed to the rise of IMG in covering the Premier League.

“He was the voice of football in East Anglia for many years and was a true professional.

Former colleague Stuart Jarrold noted about Harrison: “A great guy, a bright personality. He communicated with everyone. During about 10 years of working with him, I never had any conflicts.

“He prepared so thoroughly that commentary seemed easy. It’s not, but he always did thorough research and was truly wonderful, a great guy.”

Tony Jones, another former ITV News Anglia sports reporter, noted that Harrison gave him his first television job in 1982.

“I think I am not alone in this: he was an inspiring figure for many. Producers, directors, and others from the television industry told me they learned a lot from him.

“He always set the highest standards. People will remember him as a commentator and host of the program that was called 'About England' at that time.

“But besides that, he had an excellent ability to write for television. If you ever read one of his scripts, you might think: 'Who in the world understands this?' But his writing style tailored to visuals and his ability to present text on screen set him apart from others.”
