Greenland asks Britain to protect it from Trump: what is known.
According to ТСН: The Minister of Business and Energy of Greenland, Naaja Nathanielsen, has appealed to the UK government to take a clear position and provide assistance in countering possible threats from US President Donald Trump.
Nathanielsen emphasized that the future of Greenland should be determined only through dialogue, not through coercive pressure.
“There is a need for dialogue now — genuine, deep dialogue. Despite the complex problems in the world, this is no reason to shy away from conversations. Complex issues can be resolved through dialogue, not violence or force,”she stated.
She also highlighted the importance of dialogue in her address to British politicians and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, thanking him for his support for Greenland. Earlier, Starmer warned Trump that the future of the island could only be determined by Denmark and Greenland itself.
Despite the absence of a 'real threat,' Nathanielsen positively evaluated the decision for increased monitoring of the security situation in the Arctic region.
“We have no intention of becoming Americans and are completely satisfied with being part of the Kingdom of Denmark,”she emphasized.
Additionally, it is worth noting that Republican Party representative Randy Fine recently introduced a bill to the US Congress proposing the annexation of Greenland and granting it the status of an American state. However, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that there is no reason to believe that the US is seriously considering the possibility of military action in Greenland.
Residents of Greenland's capital, Nuuk, are anxiously awaiting the possible arrival of American warships following a series of reports about Donald Trump's plans for the region.
The situation around Greenland remains tense, as controversial statements from American politicians cause concern among local residents. Dialogues between Greenland, Denmark, and Britain may become crucial in shaping the future relations in the region.
