UNHCR announced payments for IDPs and refugees: who can receive 10,800 UAH.

In August 2025, registration is ongoing for financial assistance from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in one of the regions that regularly suffers from Russian shelling. The payments, which provide three months of support at the level of the consumer basket, are available for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees.

Where UNHCR accepts applications for payments

This relates to the activities of the agency within the United Nations system, which generally focuses on providing protection and support to refugees and displaced persons worldwide to assist in local integration and voluntary return to their homeland or resettlement to other countries.

The headquarters of UNHCR is located in Geneva (Switzerland), and offices are concentrated in many capitals and hotspots around the world, including, for several years now, representatives of the organization have been working in Ukraine. The 'Right to Protection' NGO is the official partner of the agency for collecting data for financial assistance.

In the last month of summer 2025, the organization regularly accepts applications for financial assistance from residents of Sumy region. This time, registration for payments has opened in the city of Trostyanets.

The following can participate in the assistance program:

1. Internally displaced persons who have fled dangerous areas within the last six months;
2. Citizens with IDP status who returned to their former address after leaving;
3. Ukrainians who returned to their homeland after having to leave abroad.

One of the requirements is that citizens have not received similar assistance from other organizations in the past three months. It will also be taken into account that the income of applicants for assistance does not exceed 5,400 UAH per family member.

How to submit applications for payments and the size of assistance

According to the program conditions, the support covers a three-month period at the level of the consumer basket. The total amount of financial assistance for each family member will be 10,800 UAH (3,600 UAH per person over three months).

As noted, registration for admission and further registration in the city of Trostyanets on August 8, 2025, is possible by phone: 063 182 68 38.

After that, representatives of the organization will call and invite for further registration for payments.

'All the information you provide during registration is confidential and will be entered into the UNHCR database. By providing your personal data, you consent to its transfer to the financial service provider for receiving monetary assistance,' the organizers added.

Earlier, we wrote that citizens affected by Russian aggression can receive assistance from the Estonian Refugee Council. The amount of assistance can reach USD 5,000.

We also talked about payments under the 'Caritas Poltava' program, which provides support for rural households. The amount of assistance can reach 125,000 UAH.
