Harry Maguire could extend his contract with Manchester United until the end of the year.
According to The Sun: Harry Maguire expressed optimism regarding a possible signing of a new contract with Manchester United until the end of 2025.
The 32-year-old central defender is nearing the end of his current contract, which expires in eight months. Negotiations for its extension have already begun.
Harry Maguire hopes to sign a new contract with Manchester United this yearPA Maguire is nearing the end of eight months of his contract with Manchester United, but negotiations for its extension continueMichael Steele/Getty ImagesUnited's negotiating director, Mattie Hardgreaves, has already held initial meetings with the player's representatives.
Maguire activated a one-year contract extension in January at the recommendation of head coach Ruben Amorim, who included the former captain in the new leadership group this summer.
While the club tried to propose a pay cut to David De Gea before his departure two years ago, Maguire is likely to remain on the same terms.
The player's salary was reduced by 25% after United failed to qualify for the Champions League in May 2024, and he currently earns approximately £140,000 per week.
Amorim appointed the former Leicester player as captain in the League Cup match against Grimsby Town in August – for the first time since he was stripped of captaincy by former coach Erik ten Hag in July 2023.
Although Maguire is not in the England national team, he has been showing good form for United in recent years following a failed transfer to West Ham for £30 million.
His consistent performances, along with a decisive goal in the 121st minute in the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon in April, have made him a fan favorite at Old Trafford.
He had previously faced criticism from United fans during pre-season tours in Australia, the United States, and Ireland.
