Combs was also fined £370,000 ($500,000) – the maximum penalty allowed under the sentence.
The court, during the sentencing, highlighted shocking details of alcoholism and drug-fueled 'freak parties'. Combs' ex-partner, Cassie Ventura, along with a witness named Jane, recounted horrifying instances of violence from the rapper.
Combs admitted his guilt, particularly in a shocking video showing him hitting Ventura in a hotel corridor, and apologized to all victims of domestic violence.
CAREER START
Sean John Combs, born November 4, 1969, in Harlem, began his career as an intern at Uptown Records, where he eventually became the talent director.
In 1993, he founded Bad Boy Records and signed The Notorious B.I.G., who released his iconic album Ready to Die just two months later. This marked the beginning of his meteoric rise in East Coast hip-hop.
'DRUG-RELATED' AND 'FORCED' SEXUAL ACTS
In 2023, Cassie Ventura sued Combs, claiming she was forced to have sex with male prostitutes for days while under the influence of drugs.
The singer's lawyers filed a 35-page lawsuit containing horrific allegations of physical violence and human trafficking. CNN later published a video showing Combs attacking and hitting Cassie in a hotel corridor in 2016.
In September of that year, the rapper was arrested in Manhattan.
'FREAK PARTIES' WITH DRUGS
Federal prosecutors charged Combs with racketeering, sex trafficking, and involvement in prostitution.

These events led to new allegations from victims who reported violence from the music mogul. According to prosecutors, Combs organized wild 'freak parties', inviting sex workers.
CARRIER BEHIND BARS
Combs has already served about 13 months of his sentence, and that time will count towards his overall term. The judge also sentenced five years of probation after release.
Addressing Combs before the sentencing, the judge noted that he 'physically, emotionally, and psychologically abused his girlfriends.'
“You had money and power to continue this,” he added.
Combs, tearful in court, said:
“I was broken to my core. I hate myself right now.”
