Luke Littler parts ways with his manager: Agent reacted to the decision.
Superstar Luke Littler rejects his manager
According to The Sun: The agent of the professional darts player mocked Luke Littler's attempts to manage his career alone, noting that this would be a significantly more challenging task than it seems.
The last world champion in darts announced this week that he is ending his collaboration with Martin Foulds after five years and leaving ZXF Sports Management.
Shutterstock Editorial Shutterstock EditorialAt 18, he decided to manage his career himself, together with his parents and one of his main sponsors - Target Darts.
Explaining the reasons for the split, Littler noted that he will 'only focus on booking flights, hotels, and other similar matters'.
'I wish managing a darts player just consisted of booking flights and hotels...'
— wrote agent Jack Bowman, who represents the world-ranked 142nd, Tom Sykes, on behalf of JB Darts Management.
Martin Foulds, who has also worked with stars like Chris Dobey and Nathan Aspinall, was by Littler's side when he won the title at the 2024 World Championship final at Ally Pally as an amateur.
Although he lost in the final of his debut against Luca Humphries, Littler returned the following year to become the youngest winner of the Sid Waddell Trophy, defeating Michael van Gerwen for the prize of £500,000.
In 2024, he earned over £1 million in prize money and won several major titles, including the Premier League crown, becoming a global phenomenon.
Foulds had secured lucrative commercial contracts and provided Littler and his family with stable financial advice as they gained worldwide fame.
Expert Comments
Glen Durrant, three-time world champion of Lakeside, was impressed by this decision but believes it could benefit Littler if he starts winning more trophies and building his legacy.
'I was surprised – to be honest, it shocked me.'
— he said on Sky Sports.
Durrant emphasized that the partnership between Littler and Foulds was successful and praised the support his family provided.
'Luke is a superstar. He is a commodity, one of the biggest sports stars in the UK.'
— he added, stressing that even though Littler can count on his family, he will also need other professional advice.
