Invictus Games 2025. What is known about the first medalists from Ukraine.
At the Invictus Games, Team Unconquered, the Ukrainian team Afghanistan Unconquered, secured third place in the wheelchair basketball competition. This was reported on the team's social media page.
One of the team members, Illya Pylypenko, shared his impressions of this achievement. In his post, he wrote: 'In the morning, you go to play wheelchair basketball with a team you've never met and don’t know how they play. You go with one goal - to enjoy the game, the process, and have a good day. And in the evening, you are rewarded with a bronze medal.'
This is the first medal won by a Ukrainian team in the history of Invictus Games Team Unconquered. The team consists of Ukrainian veterans from Afghanistan who were injured or ill and relocated after the evacuation from Kabul in 2021, as well as veterans from other countries.
The Invictus Games are sporting competitions for veterans who were injured or became ill during service. This year, Ukrainian athletes showed high results in wheelchair basketball competitions.
